The Next Door provides a continuum of evidence-based services for women and families impacted by addiction, mental illness, trauma and/or incarceration with Christ-centered compassionate care. Founded in 2004 by a group of the “Wild Praying Women” of First Baptist Church of Nashville, we believe in giving women a second chance at a new life. We do not believe that any women is defined by her past and that God can be the ultimate healer in any situation. We offer transitional housing for up to 100 women, who are ready to get their life back on track in one of these levels of care:
-Medically Monitored Detoxification – medical stabilization and monitoring of substance withdrawal by 24-hour awake staff in a safe, secure residential environment. We accept addicted pregnant women as well.
-Residential Treatment – individualized treatment planning, case management, counseling, and peer support to develop addiction recovery skills.
-Outpatient Treatment – comprehensive assessment, case management and counseling in a non-residential setting that is tailored to an individual client’s needs.
-Re-entry Services – a structured transitional program for women exiting incarceration includes workforce development services, individual and group counseling, addiction relapse prevention, spiritual awareness, family enrichment, and case management.
-Aftercare – ongoing support for previous clients of all programs, including weekly educational and community activities.
-Freedom Recovery Community – affordable housing in a 21 unit apartment complex for women and their children in a sober living community.
With addiction on the rise in every community, The Next Door is proud to make a difference in the lives and women and give them the tools they need to beat the disease of addiction. Once they walk through “the next door” to their recovery, they see HOPE and a new life – one without drugs, alcohol or crime.
This client’s recent experience says it all, “I’ve been an addict for half my life. I’ve served the God of addiction and now I serve the God of Heaven. I’ve been a success and failure. But, it is within the walls of The Next Door that I learned to live. Thank you for challenging me to become a better woman and mother to my kids.”
